Scenarios

Below we list a number of scenarios, mainly sourced from Techrescue to demonstrate the types of scenarios you may encounter on a course, as well as encouraging you to continue your study after completion of your course. For additional scenarios click on the link below and visit our students link page.

In each case think about how you would go about:

  • Assessing the scene for danger and making the scene safe

  • Accessing and assessing the patient (including what body substance precautions you would take)

  • What injuries they may have and what would have caused the injury (mechanism of injury)

  • How you would treat the patient until the professional medical services arrive to assist

  • And for those of you involved in rescue, how would you make the scene safe for the paramedics to work? How would you assist with extrication of the patient?

Please note that these scenarios are based on real life events and the photo's in some are quite graphic. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.
