April 2007

Revive is pleased to announce sponsorship of a set of First Aid Kits going to Henderson's Wholesale. The kits are to support a team of employees travelling to Africa to assist in a building project.

Revive has been supporting first aid training at Henderson's for some time, and Company Director John Amos said "We are pleased to be supporting one of Revive's key clients in this very worthwhile and important project."

Mr Amos continued: "As a company providing high quality healthcare and first aid training, we hope that the employees supported by Henderson's do not have to use the kits, however they can be assured that should they have to use their skills they will have the necessary equipment to support any treatment required."

Revive is pleased to announce an additional rage of courses approved by the CITB for grant funding purposes.

We now offer one of Northern Ireland's largest range of grant approved first aid courses, further details of which can be found on our courses page.

May 2006

Revive is excited to announce that we have been approved by Edexcel / IHCD to teach the First Person on Scene (Basic and Intermediate) courses.

Fast replacing the 4 day First Aid at Work course, the FPOS courses provide resuscitation, AED, medical and trauma skills relevant to those in a wide of situations including emergency services, industry, airlines and other groups.

IHCD/Edexcel accreditation - Revive has successfully passed the first stage of accreditation, and all that remains is a site visit from the assessors. This is great news and very positive for us given the feedback we've received on our application and the comprehensiveness of it. We'll keep you posted.

Mail Strike - This is having a significant affect on our business with regards post (both sending and receiving). We'll keep you updated however to date this month we have not been able to either pay any bills or receive any monies due to us!

We have recently been awarded reaccreditation for our First Aid at Work and Refresher courses. This is great news for us, however also means we will be starting annual performance planning from April of this year. Whilst this is not mandatory pay rises and promotions are based on you completing an annual review.

January 2006

Revive has recently invested in a new exam system which means we will be able to deliver a wider range of exams, with random questions drawn from a bank. It also means that we can add and change questions more easily. If you've got some exam questions or really a problem with one we've got at the moment let us know.

Revive is pleased to announce the introduction of EpiPen training. Having sourced 4 healthcare professionals who are able to teach this course, we have now also been supplied with an EpiPen trainers pack which means we can teach your institution about the dangers of anaphylaxis, the common causes, developing a personalised emergency action plan as well as how to use the epipen kit. The course lasts for approximately 2-hours and all students receive a comprehensive handout, as well as having the opportunity to practise with an epipen trainer.

Some of you may be aware that the new European and UK Resuscitation Council guidelines were placed on the UK and ERC Resuscitation Council websites on 28th November for publication in December in the ERC Journal. Rightly so the release states that the organisations do not expect training groups to implement the new guidelines immediately. To ensure continuity in our training and ensure that our courses are updated in one go, we will implement training in the new guidelines from January 2006. We are pleased to announce a new course for Healthcare Assistants, Assistants in Nursing and anyone needing to know about patient Vital Signs. This course provides an introduction on not only how to take vital signs, but the average ranges of adults, paediatrics and infants so that students leave with an understanding of what abnormal readings may be, in order to promote early intervention and high quality care.

You may be aware that the RYA is currently offering a voucher scheme for their training courses. We are pleased to participating in this scheme and will be offering the 1-Day Marine First Aid Course through this scheme. Contact us for more information.

July 2005

Revive has recently had 2 monitoring visits from the Health and Safety Executive. We are pleased to announce that we passed both visits.

We have recently added 2 new courses. The Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults course is based on DHSSPS guidance (Area Child Protection Committees and POCVA Unit) 

We have also added to our courses Infection Control. Aimed at all those who work in the healthcare industry it covers all essentials such as the transmission of infection, hand washing as well as donning and doffing protective equipment.

Revive Healthcare Training is pleased to add Suicide Awareness to its list of courses. Although primarily aimed at schools and community groups, this 2 hour course is suitable for anyone wishing to have an awareness of the risks of suicide, recognising behaviour and what to do about it.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of the head of department of a major Belfast high school as our educational advisor. An Oxford Honours graduate Karen will ensure that not only does our course curriculum meet best practice, but that our instructors and examiners are kept up to date on all the latest developments in educational techniques.
